The Chicago Suburban Baseball League announced its 2025 season award winners this week. Muskies Bryce Shafer and Andy Gaytan were among the award winners.
Righthander Bryce Shafer (pictured left) was named the CSBL's Post Collegiate Pitcher of the Year. Shafer went 4-0 in six CSBL starts posting a 1.93 ERA in league play as he helped the Muskies to a share of the CSBL championship. He struck out 55 batters in 32 plus innings of work and held opposing hitters to a .207 batting average. 2025 marks the fifth time in the last six years Shafer has been honored as the league's top hurler. Following the season, he won co-MVP honors in the National Baseball Federation World Series.
Muskie outfielder Andy Gaytan (pictured left) was named the CSBL's Post Collegiate Player of the Year. He hit .482 in league play with a pair of home runs and 27 runs batted in. He was among the league leaders in most offensive categories including stolen bases, runs scored, doubles and walks. Following the regular season, Gaytan hit .368 and homered twice in the National Amateur Baseball Federation World Series. He caught the final out of the series championship game with a sliding catch of a foul fly in right field.
